JWT Intelligence recently put together a compilation of “100 Things to Watch in 2012.” It is based on their research focusing on economic, environmental, technology, and social developments. However it is not limited to this. They have also highlighted important events, people, as well as marketing, retail, travel, food and sustainability.

One of the many things of interest from JWT’s research is F-commerce, the concept of retailers such as ASOS and Express using Facebook to directly sell to their customers. More than 50% of visitors logged onto Facebook to access e-commerce sites. Additionally, P-to-P car sharing is becoming more prominent in today’s society with programs such as Spride and Getaround in San Francisco, and RelayRides in Boston and San Francisco. This trend has not quite hit the Midwest, but we can anticipate it to hit soon, as we have assimilated the NiceRide program here to start.

Here are some additional interesting trends to watch for in 2012:

  • Anywhere, Any-way shopping

  • Cloud Security

  • Curbing Food Waste

  • Electric Fleets

  • Fat Taxes

  • Healthy Vending Machines

Read the list of things to watch for and let us know in the 'Comments" what you think is missing.
