Does your 2025 media plan include podcasts?

Podcasts have become increasingly important to listeners, with IAB reporting that “90% of the 100 million weekly podcast listeners in the U.S. describe their time spent listening as a meaningful part of their lives.”

With such dedicated listenership, marketers have a great opportunity to connect with consumers via podcast advertising. 

As eMarketer’s “Podcast Pulse” report, presented by Acast, explains, “Podcast advertising is a powerful medium for marketers seeking to elevate brand awareness, connect with their target audience, and drive results.” Here are three reasons why podcasts are a powerful marketing medium in 2025:

  • Podcasts build trust: Spotify data found that 63% of people surveyed said they trust their favorite podcast host more than their favorite social media influencer, stating, “This creates a halo effect for brands: 93% of content engagement on Spotify translates into ad engagement.”
  • Podcasts connect with B2B audiences: According to Ad Age, a recent Harris Poll survey conducted on behalf of Madison Logic found that 50 percent of B2B marketers are planning to funnel more marketing dollars in the new year towards podcast advertising, noting that executives listen to podcasts for professional reasons as well as personal interests.
  • Podcasts reach younger demographics: According to eMarketer,  podcasts will see Gen Zers audiences have the biggest increases over the next few years, and in 2027, they will overtake Millennials as the largest generation of podcast listeners. What’s more, the report notes,“Podcasts are also one of the preferred platforms where Gen Alpha consumes content the most.”
